This core team keeps the wheels turning.

  • Dr Charlotte von Bülow

Charlotte is Founder and Director of Crossfields Europa and Luna Associates, and Senior Lecturer in Leadership at University of the West of England.

“I have spent the last 20 years working in the private sector as an educator, consultant, CEO and governor. In 2007, I founded Crossfields Institute, a UK educational charity, and developed the organisation to become an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation, a consultancy and a higher education institute. I completed my doctorate at the Bristol Business School (Faculty of Business and Law, UWE) where I now work as a Senior Lecturer in Leadership.

Over the last decade, I have taught management and leadership in universities, schools, colleges, communities and organisations internationally. I have developed particular tools in the subjects of personal and professional practice, educational action research, reflective and reflexive practice and qualitative research methods. I also offer coaching in meetings facilitation, delegation and contemplative inquiry.

I have worked as a consultant and executive leadership coach for over a decade and continue to support the professional and personal growth and development of leaders and change makers.

My current research focuses on leadership as a way of being, inclusive and distributed leadership, succession building, the ethics of attention, working with uncertainty, Negative Capability and innovation in teaching and learning. I am committed to the co-creation of health in the workplace through the promotion of conscious role modelling and ethical attentional practice.” Read more about Charlotte's research here.

  • Dr Fergus Anderson

Fergus is a researcher and co-Director of Luna Associates.

“My background is in philosophy, but my main area of work over the past ten years has been in adult education. Over this time I have designed and developed a number of post-graduate level courses mostly for Crossfields Institute in the UK.

Since 2020 I have been based in Denmark where my main work has been to develop and coordinate Applied Research Methods in Psychotherapeutic Practice, a suit of modules for trainee psychotherapists to learn about practitioner-led research. I am also the co-director of Crossfields Europa and carry joint responsibility for steering and developing the organisation. I have a BSc, an MA and a Doctorate. In my doctoral research, which I completed in 2018, I used phenomenological and first-person methods to investigate the experience of thinking. My MA was in Educational Action Research.

Following the discovery of a serious health challenge in 2020, my interests have shifted and I am now deeply engaged in the question of health - what is health in the deeper sense and what can illness teach us? This is an ongoing inquiry, and I am increasingly engaged in researching this subject using phenomenological and qualitative methods.

I have had a very non-linear career pathway and have two previous careers: I trained and worked first as a violin-maker and then as a filmmaker. The skills I gained from these activities have both contributed in diverse ways to my current activities and interests.” Read more about Fergus' research here.

  • Elsebeth Bolvig

Elsebeth is Senior Consultant at Crossfields Europa and Operations Manager at Luna Associates.

“My expertise spans the areas of organizational development, supervision, evaluation, quality assurance and finance. In 2020, I completed a Masters in Organizational Psychology (MPO) and became a certified Change Management Consultant.

In my role at Crossfields Europe, I contribute particularly to the change and development of organizations as well as the development, evaluation and quality assurance of systems and processes. I also have a BA in finance and I carry responsibility for day-to-day financial management and communication.

As a certified psychotherapist and trauma therapist I have also taken a particularly active role on our work with the Danish Psychotherapy Association. Prior to my work at Crossfields Europa I worked for 10 years as a psychotherapist in two major prisons in Denmark, and before that I worked in the IT industry as Associate Marketing Manager at IBM.

In my work as a therapist, and also in connection to working with organisations, I have special expertise in dealing with stress, anxiety and major life challenges, as well as the release of shock, trauma and loss.

My research is centered on the concept of Negative Power - a “reflective passivity” of not acting in situations of anxiety and doubt, but of staying present in the moment, containing unhelpful emotion and mobilizing the capacity to think creatively.”

  • Niels Viggo Hansen, PhD

Niels Viggo is Senior Educational and Research Consultant at Crossfields Europa

"My journey has been shaped by a philosophical curiosity about what it is to be (in) process. With degrees in philosophy and physics from Aarhus University, my early research was focused on natural and epistemological processes in relativity and quantum physics. Later I moved on to humanistic health science, seemingly perhaps a very different field, but always with the same focus on process, involvement and co-construction.

I’ve held leadership roles in research and education, including as Head of the Centre for Research in Existence and Society at the University of Copenhagen, where we investigated topics like group dynamics, humor, and habit change. Alongside this, I’ve developed and facilitated mindfulness-based programs, such as the Delta program for healthy lifestyle changes and Moving Meditation, which integrates playful embodiment with existential exploration.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I’ve designed and led courses on research design, theory of science, and mindfulness, emphasizing the dynamic relationship between knowledge and practice. In recent years, I’ve engaged deeply in dialogues that connect spiritual and therapeutic practices across cultures and religions, reflecting my belief in lifelong learning and the transformative power of dialogue.

At Crossfields Europa, I am committed to supporting innovative approaches to education and practice development that inspire growth and reflection."

“With more than ten years of experience as a leader in the higher education sector in Denmark, I have specialised in educational development, quality assurance and change management at educational institutions.

My work has focused on developing educational programs and ensuring the quality of teaching and learning. Additionally, I have experience in teaching and supervising students in higher education. I’m experienced in structuring learning processes and aligning learning objectives, instructional design, and evaluation strategies.

Beyond my career in the education sector, I have also worked as a communications and management consultant in the private sector, advising on organizational development and strategic communication.

My academic background includes a PhD within the field of management, communication, and strategy from Copenhagen Business School, a master’s degree in communication, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and the theory of science. Furthermore, I am a certified Psychotherapist and have focused particularly on organizational development and leadership growth in my therapeutic practice.
