Turning Point: My Story
“I started out as a disoriented shadow of a person suffering from loads of procrastination and a deteriorating self-esteem having great difficulties ‘hitting the notes’ academically. After five years of studying, I had a pivotal experience and something clicked inside me … I suddenly found the courage to start following my curiosity, my interests and my intuition. I changed and became a highly motivated straight-A student. The shy, introverted perfectionist transformed into a teacher at the university, who simply loved being part of other people’s learning processes. After completing my PhD, I started working with academic coaching at the University of Copenhagen at a very low rate … I kept it going until I ran out of money.
This experience of personal transformation led me to a Body Psychotherapy training and I remember asking myself again and again: why didn’t anyone share these essential skills for life with me as part of my academic journey? Why did I have to stumble upon all of this by chance after so many years of studying? Why didn’t anybody tell me how to follow my interest and intuition …
In my work in the software industry I keep noticing how paying attention to personal development is an essential part of building the resilience we need to face all kinds of professional challenges. Turning Point Academic Coaching is my way of giving back and paying forward - it is my way of following a thread that began when I experienced a fundamental change in how I approach my work, my studies and my life.
I want to give you the opportunity to find your own thread and follow it.
